Andy Stanley on Changing Lives « Jeff’s deep thoughts: "“If spiritual maturity were synonymous with information transfer, or more specifically, Bible content transfer (then traditional modes of preaching) would be fine.
But it’s not. And you know that. I know that. Everybody I know knows that…
You and I know that Bible knowledge can lead to pride; the antithesis of spiritual maturity. It’s interesting that the group who knew the Old Testament Scriptures best were the very ones who considered Jesus a blasphemer and arranged for his crucifixion. Knowing isn’t enough.”"

The Quiet Time Performance :: christian living, grace :: A Reformed, Christian Blog: "So do not allow quiet time to become performance. View it as a chance to grow in grace. Begin with an expression of your dependency upon God’s grace, and end with an affirmation of His grace. Acknowledge that you have no right to approach God directly, but can approach Him only through the work of His Son. Focus on the gospel as the message of grace that both saves and sustains. And allow quiet time to become a gift of worship you present to God, and a gift of grace you receive from Him."

Immanuel Baptist Church - What Would You Erase?: "Certainly that’s food for thought even if it is tough to chew on! As I have been experiencing things I would rather “erase” … I have been thinking about Paul’s words about his own adversities recorded in 2 Corinthians 1:3-11. In times when we are afflicted, suffering, and pressed beyond measure, God calls on us to endure, trust, hope, pray, and give thanks. Is that the response of my heart?"

Obama consulted widely on memos - Mike Allen - POLITICO.com: "A former top official in the administration of President George W. Bush called the publication of the memos “unbelievable.”
“It's damaging because these are techniques that work, and by Obama's action today, we are telling the terrorists what they are,” the official said. “We have laid it all out for our enemies. This is totally unnecessary. … Publicizing the techniques does grave damage to our national security by ensuring they can never be used again — even in a ticking-time- bomb scenario where thousands or even millions of American lives are at stake.'"

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. The state has decided that all new subdivisions must have through streets linking them with neighboring subdivisions, schools and shopping areas. State officials say the new regulations will improve safety and accessibility and save money: No more single entrances and exits onto clogged secondary roads. Quicker responses by emergency vehicles. Lower road maintenance costs for governments."

Sneaky Surfing Actually Increases Productivity (Geek News Central)
Sneaky Surfing Actually Increases Productivity (Geek News Central): "A new small study out of Australia has come forth to reinforce an earlier study done in the states that indicate that personal surfing actually increased productivity by about 9%. The indication was for those that surfed 20% or less of their at-work time. 20% is quite a bit, in my mind, but that's probably about how much time I spend doing personal stuff at work. That 9% figure is pretty astonishing; I have never missed a deadline and often work on complex projects that have a lot of pieces to keep up with, and a lot of people to keep focused on the goal. Yet, I do surf non-work-related sites on a regular basis."
